Scea superba (Druce)
Taxonomy:
The type locality of Scea superba (Druce) is Baños, Ecuador.
Geographic Range:
Scea superba has been recorded exclusively on the eastern slope of the Ecuadorian Andes, from the Rio Pastaza drainage north to Baeza along the Rio Quijos.
Adult behavior:
Adults of S. superba are occasionally seen at YBS, flying near streams or in dense undergrowth, especially in late morning and late afternoon. They are invariably spotted in close proximity to their host plant. Adults are never attracted to lights.
Foodplant Associations:
Caterpillars of Scea superba have been found near the town of Cosanga, Ecuador feeding on Passiflora manicata and at YBS on P. monodelpha.
