Xenomigia dactyloides Miller
Taxonomy:
Xenomigia dactyloides appears to be the sister species to X. sordida Dognin, described from Monte Tolima in the Central Cordillera of Colombia. These are the only two Xenomigia species exhibiting a dorsal process on the uncus – bifid in X. sordida, but thumb-like in X. dactyloides [see Miller (2009), Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History, no. 321; and Miller and Thiaucourt (2011), Annals of the American Entomological Society, vol. 104: 1033-1077].
Geographic Range:
Xenomigia dactyloides has been recorded in northeastern Ecuador from as far north as YBS and as far south as Sierra Azul in the Huacamayos Range.
Foodplant Associations:
Caterpillars of X. dactyloides feed on Chusquea nr scandens (Poaceae).
