Nebulosa yanayacu Miller
Miller (2009) placed N. yanayacu in the Fulvipalpis Group of Nebulosa, along with three other species. All four show similar wing patterns and all are endemic to the cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador.
Nebulosa yanayacu is the most common day-flying moth in the vicinity of Baeza, Ecuador. During the late afternoon, hundreds of individuals can sometimes be seen fluttering across roads or through open fields, especially in areas where their host plant, Tibouchina, is abundant. Unlike many other Nebulosa species, N. yanayacu is rarely collected at light traps.
Caterpillars of Nebulosa yanayacu feed on Tibouchina lepidota (Melastomataceae), which grows as a shrub or small tree with conspicuous purple flowers. Tibouchina is common in disturbed cloud forest habitats throughout the Andes.
