Disphragis tricolor (Druce)
Taxonomy:
Disphragis tricolor is the apparent sister species to D. anatole from eastern Ecuador; their wing patterns are indistinguishable. The two taxa can be separated by differences in genitalia. A notable difference is the shape of the mesal excavation on the posterior margin of male St8, which is U-shaped in tricolor but V-shaped in anatole (see Miller and Thiaucourt, 2011).
Geographic Range:
Disphragis tricolor (Druce) is endemic to the western Andes of Colombia and Ecuador. The type locality is San Antonio, western Colombia, 5800 ft (BMNH).
